BPMI.ORG MEMBERSHIP ECLIPSES CENTURY MARK

Business Process Management Initiative Attracts Industry Heavyweights as Member Roster Passes 100

SAN MATEO, CA - May 15, 2001 - BPMI.org, the Business Process Management Initiative, announced today that membership in the organization has reached 100, including the addition of several leading IT firms, solution providers, and end user companies to its membership. Boasting over 100 members, BPMI.org has welcomed recent companies including Altaworks, Avis Europe, BEA Systems (Nasdaq: BEAS), BOV AG, British American Tobacco (AMEX: BTI), BSOFTB, Compass Management Consulting, Covigo, ePatterns, HandySoft (Kosdaq: 32380), IBM (NYSE: IBM), Intraspect, IONA (Nasdaq: IONA), KPMG Consulting (Nasdaq: KCIN), Open Design, Propelis Software, Ripcord, Savvion, Sherwood International, SpiritSoft, Systar (Bloomberg: SYSR NM), Unitech Systems, and XML Global Technologies (OTC BB: XMLG).

BPMI.org members reflect all aspects of Business Process Management (BPM), from vendors of process modeling tools, rule engines, and business process management systems (BPMS), to major consulting firms and end user organizations, to name just a few. The expertise and domain knowledge of each member ensures that the efforts of BPMI.org accurately reflect the needs of technology users and the growing BPM industry as a whole.

"We are fortunate to be joined in our efforts by such a high quality of members," said Ismael Ghalimi, initiator of BPMI.org. "The rapid growth of our organization clearly indicates the need for a coherent approach to business process management."

Members are currently focused on refining and developing implementations of the Business Process Modeling Language (BPML). BPML is a meta-language for the modeling of business processes, just as XML is a meta-language for the modeling of business data. Among other advantages, BPML provides the ability to rapidly design and deploy complex, custom processes, and to analyze these processes in real-time. By covering the multiple dimensions of business process management in the open enterprise, BPML will bridge the gap between legacy IT infrastructures and emerging business-to-business collaboration protocols such as ebXML, RosettaNet, and BizTalk.

All BPMI.org members are invited to the Q2 member meeting on June 4-5 at the Delphi Group Collaborative Commerce Summit on Coronado Island in San Diego, California. As an association sponsor of the Summit, BPMI.org members receive a 50 percent discount off the regular Summit registration fee. More information about the Delphi Group Collaborative Commerce Summit may be found at www.collaborativesummit.com.
