SEEBEYOND JOINS BPMI.ORG TO SUPPORT STANDARDS FOR BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT

Business Process Management Leader, SeeBeyond Empowers and Optimizes Virtual Supply Webs

REDWOOD SHORES, California - January 04, 2001 - SeeBeyond (Nasdaq:SBYN), a leading global provider of eBusiness Integration (eBI) solutions, today announced that it will contribute expertise to the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI.org), an organization dedicated to developing open language standards that facilitate the management of business processes across multiple applications and business partners.

SeeBeyond is leveraging its strength and customer knowledge in process-oriented eBusiness Integration in an effort to help create and promote compelling standards for business process management. SeeBeyond will support BPMI.org in developing the Business Process Modeling Language (BPML) and other specifications for describing processes such as order management, demand planning, product development, customer care and strategic sourcing.

"One of the biggest challenges for eBusinesses today is coordinating and effectively managing both internal and cross-enterprise business processes," said Lisa Kost, Senior Director of Product Marketing. "SeeBeyond will influence the definition of the interoperability standards and assist BPMI.org in delivering on their goal of effectively bridging the gap between IT infrastructures and emerging B2B collaboration protocols such as ebXML, RosettaNet and BizTalk."

SeeBeyond provides a comprehensive product suite for flexibly automating and managing the standards-based flow of information within and among organizations. The e*Xchange product suite includes the eBusiness Process Manager - a powerful application for modeling, automating, analyzing and optimizing complex business processes. e*Xchange also allows organizations to dynamically manage trading partner relationships and securely integrates, extends and connects an organization's systems and processes with those of their partners, customers and suppliers to create virtual supply webs.

"Today's eBusinesses require the ability to flexibly define and manage business processes both within and beyond enterprise systems," said Ismael Ghalimi, CEO of Intalio and initiator of BPMI.org. "SeeBeyond's long-running leadership in business process modeling, automation and optimization indicates they are well suited to help BPMI.org create effective standards for defining mission critical business processes."

About BPMI.org
Founded in August 2000, the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI.org) is an independent organization devoted to the development of open specifications for the management of e-Business processes that span multiple applications, corporate departments, and business partners, behind the firewall and over the Internet. BPMI.org complements initiatives such as J2EE and SOAP that enable the convergence of legacy infrastructures toward process-oriented enterprise computing and initiatives such as ebXML, RosettaNet, BizTalk, XAML, WSDL, UDDI, tpaML, and E-Speak that support process-oriented business-to-business collaboration. BPMI.org has been initiated by Intalio, Inc. and created by a group of sixteen enterprise software vendors and consulting firms. Membership is open to all companies, non-profit organizations and individuals.
