CYCLONE COMMERCE JOINS BUSINESS PROCESS MANAGEMENT INITIATIVE AS FOUNDING MEMBER SCOTTSDALE, AZ - August 15, 2000 - As part of a broad-based, industry-wide initiative to develop new business-to-business (B2B) standards that will allow business partners to collaborate over the Internet, Cyclone Commerce, Inc., a leading provider of Internet B2B trading community management solutions, today announced its role as a co-founder of the Business Process Management Initiative organization (BPMI.org). Cyclone joins 15 other co-founders of the Initiative, including Intalio, Aventail, Black Pearl, Blaze Software, Bowstreet, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Computer Sciences Corporation, DataChannel, Entricom, Ontology.Org, S1 Corporation, Versata, VerticalNet, Verve, and XMLFund. The BPMI.org Initiative is intended to facilitate the development of an XML-based standard called BPML: Business Process Modeling Language, which will provide more efficient and faster communications between business partners, across a wide variety of IT infrastructures. BPML will help facilitate and integrate the management of mission-critical business processes that span multiple applications, corporate departments, and business partners. BPML will permit mission-critical business processes to be modeled by business analysts, and will facilitate interoperability between B2B collaboration platforms such as ebXML, RosettaNet and BizTalk - as well as allow integration with enterprise applications through platforms such as J2EE and SOAP. "In our fast-moving industry, standards are crucial. Consequently, we are enthusiastic about supporting the Business Process Management Initiative," said David Bennett, co-founder and chief technology officer of Cyclone Commerce. As a later addition, covering distributed resources might follow, in order to support workflow-related standards developed by the WfMC.
